Meet in Tokyo, in Kanazawa, in Japan, at the International Contact Improvisation Festival (CIFJ)! CI, as very physical and popular human activities in Europe, USA, Israel etc. Finally, we open this CI event here in Japan. Hope this CI Festival will become one of the international meeting points. People from all over the countries are welcome! The registration will begin at the day of November 1.

This is the International Contact Improvisation Festival in Japan. CI is born in America, and it is active at the every place in the world, like Europe, America, Oceania and Israel, but it has come to the stage now where the opening of the international festival in Japan is desired from overseas and from inside of Japan.
We hope this first festival will offer CI place, CI while in theme, searching quality and value, designates the thing below as purpose.
1) To do the international cultural exchange and personal exchange,
2) To have the opportunity where many people can touch to CI
3) To keep raising the artistic character of CI at worldwide level
4) CI as training for professional dancers
5) The improvisation as the foundation, many arts of other genre such as music, the fine arts and photograph, research together and develop the collaboration.
6) Growing CI educators
After 1st opening in 2008, we will make it the annual project, it aims toward the fixation of CI festival in Asia, and the cooperation of the community that connects the world, deepening international cultural and personal exchange.
We have very talented improviser/artists for the workshop leader, 5 from abroad; Holland, Israel, U.S.A. and from Japan.
This festival is open for everyone who is interested in moving, expressing physically, dancing, education, and CI etc.. We are looking for people come from all over the world.

■Week1 (Tokyo city)

In the Morishita Studio where is know as the center of the dance activity in Tokyo, we have 6days of program, which contents intensive series workshops, single classes, jam, party, discussion, symposium.

■Week2 (Kanazawa)

We will move to the beautiful old city, Kanazawa (middle north of Japan Island), we stay in the facility to sleep and eat together (Yuwaku Center for Crafts and Culture). In this environment, it will be easy to concentrate the dance, relax more and people can get closer. We also program the touching Japan history, Japan craft experience, soaking hot spring everyday besides CI programs.

■Performance

At the Morishita Studio in Tokyo, we will have the collaboration performance with faculties, musicians and DJ to open to audience. The last day in Kanazawa, we will have the showing at the big outside space, “Motenashi Dome” in front of the Kanazawa station with participants and with the local music group.

■Pre-Festival

In order to create the international environment, English is the official language during this festival.
We will program the English lesson for participants who think to need. If you are the native English speaker, or nearly to them, please come and help us. We also have the classes of CI for beginners and CI basic in this Pre-Festival.
